I just recently went through the initial process (d.10) and found several places to improve.
There is an important revamp coming to d.10 soon. In the meantime: "The Action" is not necessarily the same action every day (unless you are working on a habit) - even then I would write it each day so that you have a log of accomplishments.

The items you brainstormed can be used whenever - it just helps to have a few actions to pull from - as usually, you don't think of what you need to do right when you need to do it: (when do you remember to get batteries for the flashlight? When you are at the store on the aisle where the batteries are, or when you need to use your flashlight and it's dead?)

Absolutely not - the key is to focus on getting at least one. To be clear - it isn't the same action over and over (unless you are practicing a habit like getting up early). You can have more - just make sure you focus on getting one.

Some of your explanations are a little unclear. I understand the process is supposed to be malleable to the needs of the individual but are we supposed to be writing down the one Action every day? Also do we use up the other two of the three we wrote down today first and then brainstorm the other two to complete the 5 days?

I know the minutiae aren't the point but these things popped into my head first after I finished the article. :P
